Cloth. Line drawn book appropriate picture with a colored line border. There are also two vertical lines which end in leaves, flowers, or a book appropriate symbol (which is different for each book) on each side of the cover. The early books of this format had the same dust jacket as format 1. Later the dust jackets of this format matched the book covers. 7.5 x 5.25.

Series Notes:
1. In format 1 books four different flower arrangements have been noted. It appears there are no others. As of this time 5 different cover colors- pink, grey, blue, blue-green and green have been seen. Any combination of flower and cover color can be seen without edition priority. Thus for each of the 12 books of the first format there are 20 possible book covers.
2. Format 2 began in 1909.
3. Decorated end papers were present from 1904-1910 (Format 1 and early Format 2 books). Plain end papers were first seen in 1911.
4. Endpapers 2 and 2a were drawn by John Rea Neill.
