Cloth. Left half vellum has decorative pattern in various colors. Red,
green, blue, orange and gold have been seen. The right half of the
front cover has an oval shaped book appropriate illuminated
multicolored picture. The brown uncoated dust jacket duplicates the
left side of the book. The right half of the dust jacket is blank.
These books are all 96 pages (94 text and 2 pages of ads). Please see
Series Notes #7 for the one exception that I am aware of. 8.5 x 6.5.

The illuminated picture is the same as in Format 1. The dust jacket is
the same as in format 1. These books are 64 pages (62 pages of text and
2 ad pages). 8.5 x 6.5.

Cloth with multicolored book appropriate picture. These books are 96
pages with no ads. The dust jacket matches the book cover. Early
jackets are brown uncoated whereas the later ones are white coated. 8.5
x 6.5.
Series Notes:
1. Book #2 was initially titled Animal Stories for Little People. By
the second year of the series the name of this book was changed to Our
Animal Friends. There was no change in the content. The internal back
ads of both Format 1 and Format 2 continued to list the earlier title
whereas the dust jacket ads listed the later title.
2. Parts of the text of the three formats are the same and other parts
are different.
3. Format 3 books either have a 1905 copyright (earlier) or a 1911
copyright (later).
4. Earlier Format 3 books advertise this series' price on the jacket
reverse at 50 cents while later books advertise a one dollar price.
5. There are no internal ads in the format 3 books.
6. This series was published into the 1920s.
7. One book in Format 1 (Book #12-variant) has been seen with 96 pages
of text but no advertisements.
