Series Notes:
1. Format 1 was published only in 1899 on the Henry Altemus imprint.
Beginning with Format 2 in 1900 the imprint changed to Henry Altemus
Company.
2. At its peak this series had 186 books from the attached list of 188.
Random insertions and deletions of the books from the list occurred
yearly. No two years included exactly the same titles.
3. Many years had multiple different covers. Sometimes there were the
same covers with different colors. Certain years had different color
covers with a possibility of several different paste-on flower
pictures. Certain years had combinations of various colors and any one
of numerous applique European paintings pasted onto the cover pattern.

These covers have a small applique. Usually the picture is of a tree,
field or mountains. I have seen more than 50 different ones. They defy
labeling because in fairness many times a tree is just a tree.
